Playability, shot making value and environmental sensitivity are the cornerstones of Gary Player’s golf course design approach. Gary Player will work closely with his design team to develop the concepts and strategy for The Marquis Estate golf course and he will visit the site several times during construction.
The golf course will be routed through a lush valley and the river that meanders through the site will be enhanced to add to both the aesthetic beauty and strategy of the course. Follow the river down through the valley and you’ll end up on the exquisite Marquis Bay, said to be one of the most breathtaking beaches on the island.
“We will do everything possible to design a challenging, yet playable, course that is sensitive to the surrounding environment”, Gary Player says about his vision for The Marquis Estate. His first priority is always to work as much as possible with the natural topography, environment and features of the site, and to leave a piece of land better than he found it is very important.
The Golf Academy will offer professional coaching using video and computerised equipment tailored to individual needs and game improvement programmes such as pitching and chipping, putting, swing analysis, and fairway woods. There will also be a full-size driving range.
“I get a great kick out of knowing that hundreds of years after people have long forgotten me, the courses with which we have been involved will continue to give people tremendous pleasure!”, Gary Player says about his course legacy. This is a computer generated image of an artist’s impression |
