LAS CANAS RESORT & THE HIDEAWAY
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
On the north coast of the Dominican Republic, Las Canas Resort is perfectly situated along a stunning, white, sandy beach bordered by a lush, tropical forest of coconut palms and mahogany, cedar, wild olive and muskwood trees. Thatched water bungalows will be positioned just offshore and beautiful villas will lie along the riverside and beach, enjoying the magnificent panoramas offered by this idyllic location. Half a kilometre from the main resort is The Hideaway, a 5 star luxury boutique hotel which will comprise just 150 studios and apartments arranged around a stunning pool with bar and concierge service and steps away from a pristine white sandy beach with its own private beach club. Guests staying at The Hideaway will have use of all the amenities at the main resort. Las Canas Resort is located just 10 minutes from Cabarete and 20 minutes from the Gregorio Luperon International Airport at Puerto Plata.

Situated in the heart of the Caribbean the Dominican Republic is a count of surprising contrasts and extraordinary variety, the diversity of its unspoilt landscape combining with its rich colonial history and Latin spirit. With its breath-taking shimmering beaches, soaring forested mountains which plunge to lush green valleys threaded with spectacular rivers and waterfalls, sun-baked deserts and saltwater lakes teeming with exotic wildlife, it is easy to understand why it is one of the fastest growing tourist destinations in the Caribbean. Boasting 83 protected areas of natural beauty, the stunning scenery can be appreciated by hiking through the rainforest, exploring the canyons and waterfalls, mountain biking, horseback riding, snorkelling and diving. The Dominican Republic has a rich and colourful history dating back to its early cave-dwelling groups, the Taínos, who recorded much of their activities in the form of rock paintings. Its discovery in 1492 by Christopher Columbus brought a Spanish influence that is reflected in its rich colonial architecture found in its red-roofed towns. Subsequent French and Haitian invasions have added to the vibrant kaleidoscope of cultures which can be seen in its food, sport and national pastime – dancing to the rhythmic beats of merengue and bachata music.
